Mara Plains Camp is located on the Olare Motorogi Private Conservancy, just on the northern boundary of the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The seven-tent camp is nestled in a lush forest on the banks of the Ntiakitiak River with sweeping views across the plains. Each of the seven tents has deep canvas canopied ceilings, roughhewn wood floors, a deep copper bath and an extensive private verandah. Meals are taken in the dining room, around the outdoor fire pit or as picnic breakfasts and lunches whilst out on game drives. The four Toyota Land Cruisers have open sides and are canopied and customized for photographers. Game drives typically start at sunrise, returning after a bush brunch, with a second game drive from mid-afternoon until just after sunset. There are also night drives for sightings of lesser-known nocturnal animals. Hot-air ballooning and visiting the nearby Maasai Women’s Beading group are also highlights of your stay. Each of the guest’s tents has a professional camera set, including a wide selection of lenses. Photos will be downloaded on a memory stick on the guest’s departure. High-quality binoculars are also provided. Best Celebrations: Mara Plains Camp is ideal for a beautiful honeymoon. The Honeymoon Tent is set in a secluded area further away from the main area for extra privacy.
