Hotel Reisen

The Hôtel Reisen is set directly on the city’s scenic waterfront of Stockholm’s Old Town, almost next to the Royal Castle. The building dates back to 1619 and for centuries it has served numerous functions from a storehouse, a coffee house and a restaurant. The hotel’s name originates from the Dutchman Fredrik Reiss who ran a semi-legal coffeehouse in the 1750’s. Today the five-star hotel is part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt. The rooms are elegantly decorated in sober colors with views over the old narrow alleys of the Old Town or spectacular views over the Baltic Sea and the islands of Stockholm. Try a selection of coffee cocktails at the Bar Reiss and enjoy live music at the Bar Brahe on Thursday evenings in a steamy atmosphere perpetuating the legacy of this old shipment warehouse where merchants collected bricks and coffee for export. In 1960 a cellar was built to create a Tjärn, a Swedish cold forest pond, usually surrounded by trees and greenery, the brick cladded vaults dating back to the 17th century add a unique ambiance. During your stay, try the sauna followed by a dip in the cold water plunge pool for a total Nordic experience. Best Gastronomy: savor classic Swedish dishes with a modern touch at the Restaurant Reiss where Stockholm’s rich and famous have been eating and drinking for three hundred years.
