Spring 2015’s Agenda Of A Jet-Setter

On your marks, “jet-set”, go!

Act 1: From May 13 to May 25, the Cannes Film Festival marks the actual kick-off of the spring season in the jet-set. That includes the red-carpeted steps, the films and above all the after-screening beach parties, where all the headliners, stars and stars-to-be are to be spotted… But beware: this year, selfies on the Palais’ steps are not trendy any longer. According to Thierry Frémaux, the Deputy CEO, selfies are “horrible” and cause of “great chaos”. Above all, don’t forget to hug Pierre Lescure, the new and friendly Festival’s President. You can’t miss him at the top of the steps! As far as the program is concerned, you will enjoy Opus 4 of “MAD MAX Fury Road” without Mel Gibson, but with a remarkable red carpet headed by Charlize Theron or Rosie Huntington; you will be moved by “AMY”, a documentary dedicated to the divine singer Amy Winehouse (who wore her name well!); another hug to Lambert Wilson, who re-enlists as Master of ceremonies. Enjoy a drink at the Martinez-Hyatt with the L’OREAL muses, including Leila Bekhti, Jane Fonda or Kerry Washington (Scandal!)… Stay away from Woody Allen if you are not following any psychotherapy. Instead, congratulate the adorable Natalie Portman for her first movie as a director in “A tale of love and darkness”. Follow the motto “be a trendy Festival goer”: go swimming at EDEN ROC’s swimming pool where you will meet with Georges Clooney, Matthew Mc Conaughey, Sean Penn or Léonardo di Caprio (who every year, can’t keep from chasing starlets, with or without a film on the agenda!). You have succeeded in infiltrating every “soirée” (even ALBANE’s party, the Festival’s most private night). You are exhausted, yet the season has barely started!

Act 2: On Sunday 24, we take a helicopter (what else!) to dash off to Monaco and experience the Formula 1 GRAND PRIX! Anyway, the whole Cannes jet-set is there… Formula 1 in Monaco is a thrilling and deafening experience! Happily, you are being given helmets to help reduce the race cars’ engines! Obviously, you are seated in the VIP lounge, nearest to the Princely box, overlooking the circuit, while sipping Champagne… Who will be this year’s winner? Which pilot will take from Prince Albert II the much coveted Cup? In 2004, Schumacher won the speed record in 1h14.439 and Senna holds the victory records (6 times!), Hill (5) and Prost (4)… remember this if you want to be part of the club!

Act 3: Barely back home, you dash off for a lunch at ROLAND-GARROS. One must say at “ROLAND” (drop “Garros” just as you say “ST BARTH” and not Saint Barthélemy !), the ultimate luxury is to have lunch at the “LACOSTE’s Village”, among TV’s major tennis, movie and sport celebrities ; you may want to have a look at AFFLELOU’s to check whether his new muse SHARON STONE is there ! No doubt that the main conversation topics will revolve around NADAL‘s supremacy. Is he going to capitulate following the example of his king JUAN CARLOS a year ahead? Will a French tennis player finally rewrite history? The big names of clay tennis courts at Roland-Garros preferably speak Cervantes language, following the example of the left-handed star of Majorque with eight victories so far… Believe me, take notes and educate yourself about CERVANTES…

Act 4: At nightfall, you will rush to the Four Seasons GEORGE V to meet with your good friend EVA LONGORIA, not as “Desperate” as it appears ! Every year, EVA holds a fundraising gala, touring the capital cities of the world to help those in need and encourage women’s potential worldwide. Nikos Aliagas always makes his VOICE heard and this year, the very trendy sculptor RICHARD ORLINSKI donates one of his works to UNICEF.

Act 5: A few days later, you are back at the “Rock” for a glamorous meeting: you will attend MONACO‘s GREATEST WORLD TELEVISION FESTIVAL! In this magical and prestigious haven, the famous Festival celebrates its 55th birthday (from 13 to 18 June) and welcomes a myriad of celebrities: the “Hart to Hart” duet (I’m sure you remember the billionaire avengers Robert Wagner and Stefanie Powers, alias Jennifer and Jonathan HART, don’t you?), Patrick Duffy (the sweet boy in DALLAS, the everlasting Joan Collins, playing the villain in Dynasty, Lee Majors the Six Million Dollar Man, the Wonder Lindsay Wagner Woman, “huggy good tips” Antonio Fargas, the beautiful Bianca Jagger… I only quote the old ones but don’t worry, the young generation will be attending; Eric Close (Cold Case), Chad Mickael Murray (the Scott brothers), Jon Seda (Chicago Fire) etc…! After the famous Gold Nymphs ceremony, honoring the greatest TV celebrities, go and have dinner at the Sporting Club… Do not forget your tuxedo for the Gala evening because his HSH Prince Albert II will be attending… and try to be seated as close as possible to the Prince, otherwise it’s not worth it! You think you are going to take some time off after that? Well, no. Any comedy has its epilogue!

Act 6: You have to experience the very select LONGINES Global Champions TOUR PARIS EIFFEL JUMPING introduced by Gucci, down the Eiffel Tower, on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of July! Hosted by Gustave Eiffel ‘s grand-daughter Virginie Couperie-Eiffel, major link in a family of horse breeders at the Château Bacon (in the Gironde Department), this event brings together the Who’s Who of the worldwide horsemanship, introducing the top glamorous Charlotte Casiraghi (Princess Caroline’s daughter), Jessica Springsteen (daughter of “The Boss”) or Edwina Tops-Alexander (her father’s daughter…) The best riders in the world meet with talented “aficionados” such as Guillaume CANET, Nicolas Canteloup. You will have lunches or prestigious diners with emirs, South-American or Greek billionaires (don’t miss their daughters!), and other celebrities such as Charles Berling, Jean ROCHEFORT or GAD ELMALEH… The Show Jumping Grand Prix’s trophy features a magnificent horse, made to measure by artist Richard Orlinski

EPILOGUE: You‘ve made it! You can rest now! You’ve had such a busy and emotionally rich spring! Unless you have the privilege of being invited by Princess CHARLENE, together with all the Monegasque people, to celebrate the Christening of her lovely twins, Princes Jacques and Princess Gabriella, on July 12, featuring a special concert by Robbie Williams!
